Please take a moment to read my brief introduction (updated on
7.3.2006).
I am an International Chess Master, with one Grandmaster norm, and a
licensed professional Chess Trainer.
I was born in Beograd, Serbia, in
the Year of the Dragon, and won my International Master title in 1991.
In 2005, I was promoted to
FIDE Senior Trainer, the highest Chess
Trainer's title, recognized by the
World Chess Federation, a title,
which currently hold only
fifty-two people in the World!
I am officially licensed to train players above 2450 FIDE elo and
Trainers from level three onwards.
My playing
career includes winning three Team Championships of Yugoslavia, and
one of
Singapore,
among other individual and team titles, successfully representing Yugoslavia on many occasions.
My training career includes professional experiences dating back from
1989. I have since been employed as a chess trainer in Yugoslavia,
Singapore and Greece. Check out the "About
me" page for more details!
I've learned chess at
6 years of age from my late father Milos, who introduced me to the
game which is my life now. I was raised in a chess-loving environment, my father being
a World renowned International FIDE Arbiter and a National Master, and my mother Verica a
supporting parent.
In the period of 1992-2001, I was the National Coach, and
Director of the Computer Center, of the
Chess Federation of Yugoslavia.
I was also the National Coach of
Singapore 2002-2003, as trainer
of Intchess Asia Pte Ltd.
I trained two World Junior Champions, and around a hundred national
champions, from U10 to Grandmaster level, both in Europe and Asia. I
also trained national senior, junior, men and women representatives on
five Olympiads and seven World Youth Championships, among other. I successfully trained
and captained the national team of Singapore at the the Bled Olympiad
2002 in Slovenia and the 22nd SEA games 2003 in Vietnam.
During my chess career,
I had opportunities of interacting with many chess legends, among them:
Bobby
Fischer,
the Polgar sisters,
Edward Lasker,
David Bronstein,
Anatoly Karpov,
Peter Leko,
Peter Svidler,
Sergey Rublevsky,
Konstantin Sakaev,
Vishwanathan Anand,
Ljubomir Ljubojevic, Gary Kasparov,
Boris Spassky,
Ruslan Ponomariov,
Svetozar Gligoric,
Borislav
Ivkov,
Milunka Lazarevic,
Nona Gaprindashvili,
Xie Jun,
Alisa Maric,
Alexandra Kosteniuk, and many, many others!
I have successfully played, since 20 years ago, in professional 1st
Division Leagues & Cups of Yugoslavia, Macedonia, Hungary and
Singapore, from board one downwards, with teammates being none other
than
Peter Leko, Alexander Khalifman, Peter Svidler, Sergey Rublevsky,
Konstantin Sakaev, Vitaly Tseshkovsky,
Zoltan Almasi, Ljubomir Ljubojevic, Svetozar
Gligoric, Borislav Ivkov, Alexander Matanovic, Dragoljub Velimirovic, Milan Matulovic,
Branko Damljanovic, Igor Miladinovic, Alisa Maric, Natasa Bojkovic,
Svetlana Prudnikova and many others.
Since 1998, I hold a position in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) as
Chairman
of the Computer & Internet Chess Committee.
Previously I had also served as Secretary of the
FIDE Trainers' Committee.
I support, teach and promote only
fair play in chess.
I was engaged for three years in educating chess trainers and training 20+
top juniors in the Kavala Chess Club,
Team Champion of
Greece. I was also contracted as a Federal Trainer of the
Greece Chess
Federation, assigned for high level junior training for region
Macedonia/Thraki.
I work since May 1st 2007 as Technical Director of the
Global Chess Academy,
FIDE Training Headquarters.
Regarding original theoretical contributions, I have invented,
analyzed and played first (in all history of electronically recorded
chess games) 6.Rg1! in the Sicilian Najdorf (1.e4 c5
2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.Rg1!?). Later, this move was
adopted by GMs Zvjaginsev and Ivanchuk, among others.
I have also co-authored a line as White vs the Gruenfeld defense, with
the early Be3, Qd2 and Rc1 setup (1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5 4.cxd5
Nxd5 5.e4 Nxc3 6.bxc3 Bg7 7.Be3 c5 8.Qd2 Qa5 (or 8...0-0) 8.Rc1),
which was later, for a long while, one the most popular lines with
White, adopted by many leading GMs.
Since 1989, I have combined the powers of a
professional chess player and a professional chess trainer.
I have spent countless hours in over-the-board analysis with senior
grandmasters and world junior champions. Combined with witnessing live
analysis of "super-grandmasters" and exchanging thoughts with the
world's most renowned chess trainers, my analytical and practical
skills have been raised to a very high level.
Thanks to chess, I have visited, played, lived and/or worked in many
countries around the World! Here they are, in random order: Russia,
England, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy,
Macedonia, Bosnia & Hercegovina, Slovenia, Serbia & Montenegro,
Republika Srpska, Ukraine, Netherlands, Sweden, France, Czech
Republic, Greece, Turkey, Poland, Lithuania, Croatia, Switzerland,
Singapore, China, Brunei, Vietnam, Algeria, South Africa, Puerto Rico
and United States of America!
My tailored professional training syllabuses offer guaranteed chess and
mind-thought improvement on all levels, individual or team related. All
junior and senior students I have worked
with, have experienced major boosts of positive energy, necessary for
surviving and excelling, not only over the chess board. I also develop
unique strategical program schemes, increasing any chess-related
company's productivity in a relatively short period of time.
I am happily married to
Sanja
